During construction of the Pope County Government Center Addition and Remodel, the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) determined the north entry of the courthouse should be restored to its former glory by providing grant dollars to assist in funding a portion of the project. Great care was taken to replicate historic elements through review of old photos and original drawings. Elements where the design was not fully documented, the design team collaborated with SHPO to ensure new details would be appropriate for the period and style of the building. The end result brought back the majesty and formality of the original design and once again is open to the public as the main entry into this historic building.
